FAQ

Q: About our Signature Blend

A: KD’s Koffee is built on the premise that we should cater for the needs of all coffee lovers – whether you just discovered the amazing world of freshly roasted coffee or you are a way along the path of exploring new and exciting coffee flavours. We have cupped and tasted around 30 different coffees and blended what we thought could work well based on the individual cup profiles. What was very interesting in this process is that we have learned that two good coffees blended does not necessarily equates to a brilliant cup of coffee. Such are the complexity of flavour profiles that two good cups of coffee can result in a very bad cup of coffee when blended. After much trial and error, we have settled on the Brazil Cerrado and Uganda Bugisu (both medium roasted to maintain as much of the actual bean flavour profile) as our preferred entry level blend. The main characteristics of the Brazilian bean (chocolate notes) is extremely complementary to the Uganda bean with its fruity undertone. Ratios are carefully controlled to ensure a consistent taste profile in every cup.

Q: What is the roasting process?

A: Roasting is the process of heating coffee beans to develop their flavors. It’s a crucial step that affects the beans’ taste, aroma, and color. Roasting can range from light to dark, each level producing different flavor profiles. You can read more about coffee roasting here.

Q: How do I store coffee beans?

A: To maintain freshness, store coffee beans in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Avoid exposure to air, moisture, and direct sunlight, as they can degrade the beans’ quality.

Q: How do I grind coffee beans?

A: Coffee beans should be ground just before brewing to preserve freshness. The grind size depends on the brewing method: coarse for French press, medium for drip, and fine for espresso.

Q: What is the best way to brew coffee beans?

A: The best brewing method depends on personal preference. Some popular methods include drip brewing, espresso, French press, pour-over, and AeroPress.

Q: Do coffee beans have an expiration date?

A: While coffee beans don’t technically expire, they can go stale over time. Freshness is essential for optimal flavor, so it’s recommended to use coffee beans within a few weeks of roasting.
